Plymouth — The Ancilla women’s basketball team returns to action Tuesday when they host Jackson Community College in a NJCAA Region 12, District G, quarterfinal game. Game time is 7 p.m. at the LifePlex in Plymouth.
The Lady Chargers (22-5) are having the best season in programs history. They have defeated Jackson (8-16) twice this season. In January Ancilla beat the Jets 97-73 at home and then in February they won 70-63 on the road.
Ancilla Coach Tom Robbins isn’t sure those two victories are a good indicator of what lies ahead in Tuesday’s game.
“We have a big challenge ahead of us as Jackson has been short-handed in each game they played us”, he said. “They will have everyone available Tuesday. They present us a unique challenge with the size they have inside and the athletic perimeter players they can throw at us.”
The winner of Tuesday’s game will advance to Friday’s semifinals in Port Huron, MI at St. Clair County Community College, or SC4 as it is known there. The opponent will be the winner of Mid-Michigan/Grand Rapids game which is also being played Tuesday at another site. Game time Friday for the winners is 1 p.m. Saturday’s championship game would be at 5:30 p.m.
