BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Nov. 4, 2019 – The Men’s League of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association is proud to
recognize four student-athletes as its Players of the Week for games of Oct. 31-Nov. 2. Lake Superior State sophomore
Ashton Calder (Forward), senior Collin Saccoman (Defenseman) and freshman forward Louis Boudon (Rookie) and
Alaska senior Anton Martinsson (Goaltender) earned this week’s honors.
WCHA Forward of the Week
Ashton Calder, So., Lake Superior State (Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.)
Lake Superior State’s Ashton Calder helped lead the Lakers to a pair of wins over Ferris State this weekend with five
points in the series on two goals and three assists. Calder led LSSU in points during the team’s two-game home-series
sweep against Ferris State with a pair of goals in Friday’s 5-4 overtime win and three assists in Saturday’s 4-3 win.
Calder recorded two goals in the third period of the series opener, including a power-play goal. In Saturday’s game, the
Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. native tallied two power-play assists as well as the secondary assist on the game-winning goal.
Calder led all WCHA players in points this week and was tied for first among league players with three power-play points.
The sophomore forward is tied for the team-lead on the Lakers with 11 points in 10 games and has notched points in
seven of the ten games this season. This is Calder’s third career weekly honor.

Nick Wicks, Fr., Alaska Anchorage: Tallied four points on four assists in the Seawolves nonconference series with Omaha
Max Newton, Jr., Alaska: Scored twice and posted an assist in the Nanooks’ home split
with Bemidji State. Connor Ford, Jr., Bowling Green: Recorded a goal and an assist, including the game-winning
overtime power-play goal on Friday, in the Falcons’ split at Minnesota State. Justin Misiak, Jr., Michigan Tech: Scored
the Huskies’ lone goal in a 3-1 loss at North Dakota. Dallas Gerads, Jr., Minnesota State: Posted three assists in the
Mavericks’ 5-1 win over Bowling Green on Saturday. Griffin Loughran, So., Northern Michigan: Riding a seven-game
point streak after chipping in two goals and a pair of assists in Northern Michigan’s home sweep of Alabama Huntsville.
WCHA Defenseman of the Week
Collin Saccoman, Sr., Lake Superior State (Stillwater, Minn.)
Senior Collin Saccoman helped lead Lake Superior State to a pair of wins over Ferris State this weekend with four points
in the series. Saccoman led the team in goals during the team’s two-game home series sweep over Ferris State with a
goal and an assist in Friday’s 5-4 overtime win and two power play goals in Saturday’s 4-3 win. Saccoman the go-ahead
goal in Friday’s game to put the Lakers ahead 3-2 and then contributed a power play assist to extend the Lakers lead to
4-3. In Saturday’s game, Saccoman scored the game’s first goal on the power play in the second period and added his
second power play goal of the night early in the third period to give the Lakers a 3-1 lead. The Stillwater, Minn., native led
all WCHA players in goals this weekend with three and was tied among his conference peers in power play goals with
two. The Lakers captain leads all NCAA defensemen in goals with six this season and has recorded three consecutive
multi-point games (5g-1a).
Honorable Mention: Tomi Hiekkavirta, Sr., Alaska Anchorage: Recorded three points on three assists in the Seawolves’
series with Omaha. Tristan Thompson, Sr., Alaska: Scored the Nanooks’ opening goal and assisted on the game-winner
in UAF’s 3-1 win over Bemidji State on Saturday. Brad Johnson, Jr., Bemidji State: Led the Beavers to a 4-0 win at
Alaska on Friday with a pair of goals in the first multi-goal game of his career. Alec Rauhauser, Sr., Bowling Green:
Posted three points on two goals and an assist in the Falcons’ split at Minnesota State. Nate Kallen, Sr., Ferris State:
Produced three points on three assists in the Bulldogs’ series at Lake Superior State. Connor Mackey, Jr., Minnesota
State: Contributed a goal and an assist to MSU’s attack in the Mavericks’ split with Bowling Green. Philip Beaulieu, Sr.,
Northern Michigan: Led the Wildcats in points with four on a goal and three assists in NMU’s sweep of Alabama
Huntsville.
WCHA Goaltender of the Week
Anton Martinsson, Sr., Alaska (Klippan, Sweden)
Alaska senior Anton Martinsson stopped 37-of-38 shots in the Nanooks’ 3-1 home win over Bemidji State on Saturday.
The Klippan, Sweden native finished the night with a .973 save percentage in the victory to lead league netminders in
save percentage and goals against average (1.00) on the weekend. Martinsson turned away 18 shots in the first period,
11 in the second and eight in the third to lead the ‘Nooks to the win. This is Martinsson’s fourth career WCHA weekly
honor.
Honorable Mention: Dryden McKay, So., Minnesota State: Stopped 23-of-24 shots in the Mavericks’ 5-1 win over
Bowling Green on Saturday to finish the weekend with 53 saves on 57 shots. Nolan Kent, So, Northern Michigan: Picked
up his third-straight win this season with a 25-save performance and picked up his first career assist in NMU’s 4-2 win
over Alabama Huntsville on Saturday.
WCHA Rookie of the Week
Louis Boudon, Fr., F, Lake Superior State (Grenoble, France)
Lake Superior State forward Louis Boudon helped lead the Lakers to a pair of wins over Ferris State this weekend with a
total of four points in the series. Boudon recorded an assist in Friday’s 5-4 overtime win against the Bulldogs and
followed up with a three-point game on Saturday as LSSU completed the sweep with a 4-3 victory. The performance
was the Grenoble, France, native’s first career multi-point game. He netted the Lakers second goal of the game while
also adding a pair of power-play assists in the win. Boudon tied for second among all WCHA players in points on the
weekend with four and is riding a five-game point streak with seven points (3g-4a) in that span. Boudon tied for first
place in both points and goals this week among league newcomers. He is tied for second among WCHA freshmen in
points this season with eight points through his first ten games. This is his first WCHA weekly honor.
Honorable Mention: Rylee St. Onge, Fr., F, Alaska Anchorage: Posted a pair of power play goals in UAA’s home series
with Omaha. Elias Rosén, Fr., D, Bemidji State: Picked up the first points of his career on a goal and an assist in the
Beavers’ road split at Alaska. Jake Willets, Fr., D, Ferris State: Finished with three assists in the Bulldogs’ series at Lake
Superior State to rank third among rookies and defenseman scoring leaders for the weekend. Andre Ghantous, Fr., F,
Northern Michigan: Posted his first career game-winning goal in NMU’s Saturday win over Alabama Huntsville to finish
the weekend with two points on a pair of goals with five shots on goal.
