Late Rally Falls Short for Ancilla

Plymouth – Ancilla College raced out to a 15-7 lead, but Grand Rapids came roaring back to take a 15 point lead that they did not relinquished until the final six minutes of the game. The Raiders (14-5, 7-1) held on for a 101- 96 Michigan Community College Athletic Association win at the LifePlex Monday night.

Ancilla (12-7, 5-4) cut the deficit to 94-91 with two minutes and forty seconds remaining, The Chargers only managed two free throws and a three-pointer the rest of the way. Ancilla had four empty trips down the court in the final two minutes.

Ty’Sean Sheppard led the Chargers with 30 points and 14 rebounds. Mike Green had 16 points before fouling out and Mike Hemingway had 12 points and five assists. Albert Haskins added 10 points. Nate Meriweather hit three late three-pointers and finished with nine points, to spark Ancilla’s late rally

Ancilla travels to Muskegon on Wednesday for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
