Lewis, UIndy Earn First GLVC Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Awards

INDIANAPOLIS – Lewis University senior distance specialist Michael Leet and University of Indianapolis junior thrower Austin Hogan have earned the first Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week honors of the 2018 season, it was announced by the Conference office Tuesday.

MEN’S OUTDOOR TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Michael Leet, Lewis
Sr., Steeplechase, Arlington Heights, Illinois

Team Competition:  Stanford Invitational

Finished eighth overall and as the second NCAA Division II competitor in the second section of the steeplechase at the prestigious Stanford Invitational

Time of 8 minutes, 58.21 seconds is currently first in the GLVC and fifth in Division II

First career GLVC Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week honor

Last Lewis Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week: Andrew McLain (4/3/14)

 
MEN’S OUTDOOR FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Austin Hogan, Indianapolis

Jr., Throws, Indianapolis, Indiana
Team Competition:  McKendree Bearcat Classic

 

Won the shot put (16.12m), discus (53.55m) and hammer throw (55.26m), reaching NCAA Division II provisional qualifying marks in all three events

Currently ranked third nationally in the discus

INDIANAPOLIS – Lewis University sophomore sprinter Allie Heinzer and University of Indianapolis junior thrower Katie Monk have earned the first Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week honors of the 2018 season, it was announced by the Conference office Tuesday.

WOMEN’S OUTDOOR TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Allie Heinzer, Lewis
So., Sprints, Sugar Grove, Illinois
Team Competition:  McKendree Bearcat Classic

 

Won the 200 meters in a GLVC-leading 24.21 seconds, which also ranks third nationally

Raced the second leg on winning 4x100m relay that finished in 46.63 seconds, good for tops in the GLVC and third nationally

WOMEN’S OUTDOOR FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Katie Monk, Indianapolis
Jr., Throws, Churabusco
, Indiana
Team Competition:  McKendree Bearcat Classic

Won the shot put (14.88m), discus (42.86m), and hammer throw (54.37)

Achieved NCAA provisional qualifying standards in shot put (sixth) and hammer throw (13th)

Currently ranked first in the GLVC in all three events
