Marian Knocks Off Taylor in Crossroads League Contest

INDIANAPOLIS – The TU volleyball team struggled on Saturday, falling in straight-sets to Marian.

The Taylor squad put up a great fight in each set, as it kept the Knights within reach. In all three sets, the Purple and Gold brought the score to a one-point deficit at 18-19 but could not manage to overcome for the win. The Trojans managed to improve with each set but Marian finished stronger, completing the clean sweep (25-19, 25-20, 25-23).

TU maintained a strong and efficient attack throughout the match, landing 14 kills per set to go along with a .180 hitting percentage. Taylor’s offense logged a great second set with 16 kills and a .214 hitting percentage, led by senior Addy Bailey who slammed five kills for the squad.

Experience in the back row paced the defense, grabbing 53 digs for the team’s fifth-straight 50-dig contest. Defensive specialist Jamie Scherb tallied 11 digs for her ninth double-digit dig match of the season.

Taylor will look to rebound against Bethel, as it takes the court in Mishawaka on Wednesday at 7:00 pm.
