Martin Named Newcomer of the Year, Tracy Earns Second Team All-CCAC
CHICAGO, Ill. – Indiana University South Bend men’s basketball senior transfer Kourtlandt Martin earned first team All-Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference and Newcomer of the Year while sophomore Miles Tracy was named to the second team squad, the conference announced Monday, March 2 after the thrilling overtime Titan victory in the CCAC Championship game.
Martin becomes the first Titan in program history to garner the Newcomer of the Year nod that also earned him on the first team list. The Evansville, Ind. native ranks second in the league with total assists (121) which is good for 25th in National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics DII while his 3.78 assists per game puts him in fifth-best amongst the league. Martin also ranks 16th in the conference in scoring (453), 10th in field goal percentage (49.2), and 8th in steals per game (1.69).
Tracy was selected second team for the first time in his career, averaging 9.5 points, 4.7 rebounds and a team-high 0.74 blocks. The Indianapolis, Ind. native scored a career-high 23 points back on Feb. 5 in an IUSB 70-67 overtime victory at Roosevelt. The sophomore is 12th in the league with 23 total blocks and 13th in blocks per game (0.74). Tracy also ranks 27th in total rebounds (146) and 32nd in rebounds per game (4.71) in the CCAC.
The Titans are currently 25-8 overall and finished 16-6 in the CCAC, earning their highest seed of three in the conference tournament that led to their first CCAC title in program history. IU South Bend punched its first ever ticket to the NAIA DII National Tournament, which takes place in Sioux Falls, S.D. from March 11-17 inside the Sanford Pentagon.
