Maryland Clinches Share of Big Ten Women’s Basketball Title
Terrapins win sixth conference crown in seven years
ROSEMONT, Ill. — The University of Maryland women’s basketball team clinched a share of the 2020-21 Big Ten Conference women’s basketball title Thursday with its 88-63 win at Michigan. With the victory, the Terrapins improve to 16-1 in conference play this year and hold a one-game lead over Indiana (15-2) with one game remaining in the regular season for both schools.
This is Maryland’s sixth Big Ten women’s basketball title in its seven years as a conference member, having earned the crown in all but 2018. The Terrapins were outright champions in 2015, 2016 and 2019, with shared titles in 2017 and 2020.
Maryland concludes the regular season at 3 p.m. (ET) Saturday, playing host to Penn State at the XFINITY Center in College Park, Md. That game will be streamed live on Big Ten Network+.
The 2021 Big Ten Women’s Basketball Tournament will be held March 9-13 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
