Maryland, Minnesota, Nebraska and Ohio State Capture Big Ten Weekly Volleyball Awards

Terrapins’ Jones, Gophers’ Samedy, Huskers’ Hames, Kubik and Rodriguez, and Buckeyes’ Londot recognized for top performances last week

Co-Player of the Week

Madi Kubik, Nebraska

Jr. – OH – West Des Moines, Iowa – Valley – Major: Communication Studies

• Averaged 4.29 kills and 3.00 digs per set with a double-double as No. 10 Nebraska picked up wins at No. 13 Penn State and Rutgers last week

• Matched her season high with 19 kills and logged 12 digs in the Oct. 8 win at PSU, registering her second double-double this year

• Chosen for Academic All-Big Ten recognition last season

• Earns her second career Player of the Week honor

Emily Londot, Ohio State

• Compiled 4.50 kills, 3.67 digs and 1.00 blocks per set with a double-double last week as No. 7 Ohio State recorded sweeps over Michigan State and Michigan

• Tallied match-high kill totals in both victories with 15 against MSU on Oct. 8 and 12 on Sunday against Michigan

• Added 14 digs against Michigan to post her fourth double-double of the season

• Captures her second career Player of the Week citation

Co-Defensive Player of the Week

Rainelle Jones, Maryland

Sr. – MB – Oxon Hill, Md. – Oxon Hill – Major: American Studies

• Finished with 2.50 blocks and 3.13 kills per set, plus a double-double last week as Maryland split matches with Indiana (win) and Northwestern (loss)

• Recorded her first career double-double in the Oct. 9 victory over Indiana, amassing 11 kills (on a .556 percentage) and a career high-tying 12 blocks (the most by a Big Ten player in conference play this season)

• Contributed a career-best 14 kills (on .448 hitting) and eight blocks in the Oct. 8 match against Northwestern

• Receives the second Defensive Player of the Week award of her career, both this season

• Averaged 3.78 digs and 4.56 kills per set with two double-doubles last week as the eighth-ranked Gophers split matches at Michigan State (win) and Michigan (loss)

• Tallied a season-high 22 digs and added a team-best 19 kills in the Oct. 8 match at Michigan

• Named to Academic All-Big Ten Team in 2019 and was last year’s Senior CLASS Award recipient in the sport of volleyball

• Secures her first career Defensive Player of the Week selection, to go along with 10 career Player of the Week honors (two this season)

• Dished out 11.29 assists per set while registering 2.86 digs and 0.86 blocks per set and a double-double last week to help the 10th-ranked Huskers to road wins at No. 13 Penn State and Rutgers

• Posted her team-leading eighth double-double of the season on Oct. 8 at Penn State with a season-high 49 assists and 12 digs in her 100th career match

• A two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree (2019, 2020)

• Collects her first career Setter of the Week plaudit
