The semistate round produced a 5-3 (63 percent) record leaving my overall mark at 353-117, which has me at 75 percent heading into Saturday’s contests.

CLASS 1A

Lafayette Central Catholic (22-6) vs. Indianapolis Tindley (23-5) (10:30 a.m.): Ben Tharp tallied 16 points and eight rebounds in the Knights’ 77-59 victory over Gary 21st Century. K.J. Coleman netted 17 points for the Tigers in their 64-50 win against New Washington.  Lafayette Central Catholic is averaging 60 points per game, while Tindley is shooting 51 percent from the floor. Matt’s pick: Tindley 64, Lafayette Central Catholic 60.

CLASS 2A

Frankton (22-6) vs. Crawford County (22-6) (12:45 p.m.): Kayden Key finished with 16 points as the Eagles rallied for a 77-75 overtime triumph against Marquette Catholic. Gavin Coleman chipped in 11 points for the Wolfpack in a 49-40 win over Heritage Christian. Frankton is shooting 70 percent from the free throw line, while Crawford County is averaging 22.5 rebounds per contest. Matt’s pick: Crawford County 55, Frankton 52.

CLASS 3A

Twin Lakes (25-3) vs. Indianapolis Crispus Attucks (24-4) (6 p.m.): Justin Crabb contributed 11 of his 21 points in the fourth quarter of the Indians’ 67-57 victory over Fort Wayne Bishop Luers. Alex Cooley pitched in 13 points for the Tigers in an 84-77 win over Evansville Bosse. Twin Lakes is averaging 14 assists per game, while Crispus Attucks is scoring 79.3 points per game. Matt’s pick: Crispus Attucks 68, Twin Lakes 61.

CLASS 4A

Fort Wayne North (27-2) vs. Indianapolis Ben Davis (22-5) (8:15 p.m.): Juan Quarles poured in 16 points for the Legends in an 82-73 triumph over Merrillville. Jalen Newsom had 18 points in the Giants’ 74-71 victory against Castle. Fort Wayne North is shooting 35 percent from 3-point range, while Ben Davis has four players scoring in double figures, Matt’s pick: F.W. North 73, Ben Davis 70.
