MATT’S MATCHUPS HOOPS 16-17 – VOLUME 10

I was definitely in the holiday spirit as I went 11-1 (92 percent) last week. Heading into the final week of 2016, my overall record is 75-27, which has me at 74 percent for the season. I will be adding on more games as the week goes on.
TUESDAY
Adams (4-3) vs. Franklin Central (2-1) (Richmond Tournament): Mike Green poured in 19 points in the Eagles’ 73-61 triumph over Clay. Grant Pedigo netted 23 points for the Flashes in a 66-65 win over Perry Meridian. Matt’s pick: Franklin Central 68, Adams 65.
Lakeland (1-5) at Plymouth (5-3): The Pilgrims cruised to a 66-44 win over Lakeland a year ago. Cole Harp scored 14 points in the Lakers’ 65-46 setback to Westview. Kadin McCrammer came up with nine points in Plymouth’s 78-61 loss to Riley. Matt’s pick: Plymouth 54, Lakeland 43.
Wawasee (4-3) at Marian (2-4): Jairus Boyer finished with five points in the Warriors’ 52-34 loss at Columbia City. Coley Quinn’s eight points helped the Knights to a 40-38 win over Glenn. Matt’s pick: Marian 55, Wawasee 51.
Westview (5-2) at Plymouth (5-3): The Warriors came up on the short end of a 42-30 decision to Plymouth last season. Westview poured in 20 points in the fourth quarter against Lakeland. Garrett Tharp tallied seven points for the Pilgrims against Riley. Matt’s pick: Plymouth 46, Westview 41.
WEDNESDAY
Adams (5-3) vs. Indianapolis Lighthouse (6-2) (Richmond Tournament): Rico Swanson tallied seven points for the Eagles against Clay. The Bulldogs made it six wins in a row with a 76-25 decision over Bloomington Lighthouse. Matt’s pick: Adams 69, Lighthouse 58.
Adams (6-3) at Richmond (4-6): Matt’s pick: Adams 70, Richmond 65.
THURSDAY
Columbus Centennial (1-5) vs. Washington (3-3) (Saint Joseph Tournament): The Stars from Ohio dropped a 46-20 decision to Central Catholic in their last outing. Brandon Watts netted nine points in the Panthers’ 62-54 win over Gary 21st Century. Matt’s pick: Washington 70, Columbus 53.
Clay (3-3) vs. Edwardsburg (0-1) (NorthWood Tournament): Tysean Sheppard poured in 29 points in the Colonials’ 72-55 win over Glenn. The Eddies from Michigan opened their season with a 65-53 loss to Paw Paw. Matt’s pick: Clay 64, Edwarsburg 60.
Elkhart Central (6-1) vs. Elkhart Memorial (3-4): The Blazers held on for a 62-57 win over Elkhart Memorial on December 2. Cornell Conner tallied 15 points in Elkhart Central’s 65-56 win over Fairfield. Hank Smith scored 12 points in the Chargers’ 72-54 loss to Valparaiso. Matt’s pick: Elkhart Central 61, Elkhart Memorial 52.
Indianapolis Tindley (6-3) vs. Adams (7-3) (Richmond Tournament championship): The Tigers reached the title game with a 72-60 win over Park Tudor. The Eagles made it four straight wins with a 67-53 win against Richmond. Matt’s pick: Adams 75, Tindley 69.
Mishawaka (2-4) vs. NorthWood (6-0) (NorthWood Tournament): The Panthers posted 52-33 victory over Mishawaka during the 1997-98 campaign. Dylan Hall came up with eight points in the Cavemen’s 63-49 win over Bremen. Caleb Glick had seven points for NorthWood in its 61-37 victory over defending Class 1A state champion Liberty Christian. Matt’s pick: NorthWood 68, Mishawaka 56.
Northridge (2-3) vs. Saint Joseph (1-5) (Saint Joseph Tournament): The Indians slipped past Northridge, 70-62, in their last meeting. Connor Utley tallied 17 points in the Raiders’ 72-51 win over Goshen. Alex Voss contributed 10 points in Saint Joe’s 56-54 loss to Elkhart Central. Matt’s pick: Northridge 52, Saint Joseph 50.
Northridge (2-4) vs. Columbus Centennial (1-6) (Saint Joseph consolation game): Matt’s pick: Northridge 58, Columbus 48.
Washington (4-3) vs, Saint Joseph (2-5) (Saint Joseph championship game): Matt’s pick: Washington 59, Saint Joseph 50.
FRIDAY
Clay (4-3) vs. NorthWood (7-0) (NorthWood championship game): Luke Zurcher tallied 17 points in the Panthers’ 55-43 win over Mishawaka. The Colonials reached the title game with a 72-41 win over Edwardsburg. Matt’s pick: NorthWood 70, Clay 58.
Concord (3-5) at Marian (3-4): The Knights rolled to a 63-44 win over Concord a year ago. Brandon Emerick netted nine points for the Minutemen in a 39-36 overtime triumph over Jimtown. Michael Hemmingway’s 20 points paced Marian in a 63-26 win over Wawasee. Matt’s pick: Marian 62, Concord 51.
Edwardsburg (0-2) vs. Mishawaka (2-5) (NorthWood consolation game): John Binion poured in 22 points for the Cavemen against NorthWood. The Eddies are looking to rebound from their setback to Clay. Matt’s pick: Mishawaka 53, Edwardsburg 40.
Warsaw (6-2) vs. New Albany (5-2) (Hall of Fame Classic): The defending Class 4A state champion Bulldogs claimed an 82-65 win over Warsaw in the 1996 state semifinals. Jack Rhoades chipped in nine points for Warsaw in a 46-33 win over Triton. Romeo Langford contributed 34 points in New Albany’s 72-63 victory over Evansville Bosse. The winner-loser takes on Logansport (7-0) or Lawrence North (6-1). Matt’s pick: New Albany 76, Warsaw 60.
Warsaw (6-3) vs. Lawrence North (6-2) (Hall of Fame consolation): The Tigers fell 43-33 earlier to New Albany, while the Wildcats suffered a 53-51 loss to Logansport. Matt’s pick: Lawrence North 49, Warsaw 45.
SATURDAY
Crown Point (8-1) at Washington (5-3): The Bulldogs posted a 68-60 win against Washington last season. Sasha Stefanovich came up with 23 points for Crown Point in a 67-62 overtime loss to Indianapolis Pike in the Noblesville tournament title game. Xavier O’Neal poured in 10 points for the Panthers in a 53-40 win over Saint Joseph. Matt’s pick: Crown Point 64, Washington 60.
