Columbia City (0-1) at Warsaw (1-0): The Tigers clawed past Columbia City, 44-38, last season. Mitchell Wilson netted 16 points for the Eagles in their scrimmage against Goshen. Brian Elliott came up with 17 points in Warsaw’s 67-39 win over Tippecanoe Valley. Matt’s pick: Warsaw 50, Columbia City 42.

Concord (7-15) at Michigan City (1-0): The Wolves earned a 45-36 win over Concord last year. Michael Johnson had a 15.2 scoring average for the Minutemen. Derrick DeShone takes over for Steve Austin at Concord. Dez’Mand Hawkins poured in 18 points in Michigan City’s 88-36 win over Westville. Matt’s pick: Michigan City 59, Concord 51.

Goshen (11-13) at Fairfield (1-0): The RedHawks escaped with a 44-43 win against Fairfield a season ago. Bryant Robinson contributed 17 points for Goshen in its scrimmage with Columbia City. Skylar Mast recorded 17 points for the Falcons in a 51-40 win over Wawasee. Matt’s pick: Goshen 47, Fairfield 45.

LaPorte (0-1) at Clay (2-21): The Slicers cruised to a 64-39 win over Clay a year ago. Drake Gunn’s 15 points were not enough for LaPorte in a 60-54 loss at No. 9 (Class 4A) Riley. Brayden Smth racked up 248 points last season for the Colonials. Doug Barnbrook is now in charge at Clay, replacing Delray Brooks. Matt’s pick: LaPorte 62, Clay 55.

Northridge (1-0) at Westview (1-0): The No. 1 (Class 2A) Warriors slipped by Northridge, 67-60, in their last meeting. Sam Vogt chipped in 14 points in the Raiders’ 73-57 win against Elkhart Central. Elijah Hales paved the way with 23 points in Westview’s 81-7 decision over Bethany Christian. Matt’s pick: Westview 69, Northridge 65.

NorthWood (1-0) vs. Heritage Christian (1-0): This is part of the Muncie Burris shootout with the winner-loser moving on to meet the host Owls (0-1) or Lighthouse CPA (0-0). Ben Vincent contributed 17 points in the Panthers’ 53-49 win at Lakeland. Andrew Williams finished with 18 points in the Eagles’ 58-53 win against Columbus North. Matt’s pick: NorthWood 56, Heritage Christian 53.

Penn (14-10) at Carroll (Fort Wayne) (1-0): The Chargers marched to an 80-63 win over Penn in the 2017-18 campaign. Noah Applegate accounted for 490 points a season ago for the Kingsmen. David Ejah netted 23 points in Carroll’s 65-58 victory against Adams. Matt’s pick: Carroll 67, Penn 64.

Plymouth (1-0) at New Prairie (1-0): The Pilgrims posted a 50-34 win over New Prairie last year. Cole Filson ended up with 14 points in Plymouth’s 57-52 win over Glenn. Brayden Flagg had 23 points as the Cougars began the Kris Davis era with a 55-53 win over Career Academy.  Matt’s pick: Plymouth 53, New Prairie 45.

Washington (15-9) at Lake Central (0-1): The Indians suffered a 92-44 setback at Washington last season. Demarcus Vaughn averaged 11.2 points a contest a year ago for the Panthers. Nick Anderson racked up 13 points in Lake Central’s 52-38 loss to Andrean. Matt’s pick: Washington 61, Lake Central 58.

Wawasee (0-1) at Angola (17-9): This contest will take place at Trine University. The Hornets claimed a 33-27 win over Wawasee a year ago. Austin Miller came up with 13 points for the Warriors against Fairfield. Luke Honer is one of the many veterans for Angola in 2018-19. Matt’s pick: Angola 48, Wawasee 38.

NorthWood (0-1) at Muncie Burris (0-2): Matt’s pick: NorthWood 50, Muncie Burris 45.
