McClintock Powers Volleyball Past Jaguars – Indiana University South Bend
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Ashley McClintock (SR/Westville, Indiana) powered the Indiana University South Bend volleyball team to a 3-1 (25-17, 25-13, 20-25, 25-17) victory over Governors State University on Tuesday night. The win pushed the Titans to a game over .500 in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference action.
McClintock finished the night with a team-high 18 kills and five service aces to go along with five block assists and one block solo.
In the first two sets, the Jaguars kept the score close but the Titans used huge runs to open up each set and eventually go up 2-0.
The third set featured what appeared to be a re-energized Jaguar team. GSU used an 8-1 run with the score even at 8 to open up their largest advantage of the match. A service ace from Morgan Powell (FR/New Prarie, Indiana) brought the Titans within two points of the Jaguars but three consecutive errors from the Titans gave GSU a five point advantage. The Jaguars would go on to avoid the sweep earning a 25-20 victory.
IU South Bend was not going to let this match get to five sets as they sprinted out to a 13-3 advantage in the fourth frame. McClintock recorded her final service ace of the night to put the Titans up 23-17 and Ashli Drewes (JR/New Buffalo, Michigan) and Sarah Allison (JR/Mishawaka, Indiana) notched back-to-back kills to seal the 25-17 set victory and a 3-1 match victory.
Allison tallied 12 kills, four assists, and seven digs in the win while Jadalyn Tindall (SR/Fort Wayne, Indiana) dished out 33 assists. Janelle Rehlander (SR/LaPorte, Indiana) led the Titan defense with 21 digs.
