McKendree, Missouri S&T, UIndy Garner Weekly GLVC Football Awards
INDIANAPOLIS – Missouri S&T senior quarterback Tyler Swart, University of Indianapolis junior linebacker Joe Lambright, and McKendree University junior wide receiver/return specialist Matt Cole have been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Players of the Week in football, it was announced by the league office Monday.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Tyler Swart, Missouri S&T
Sr., QB, Dickinson, Texas
Major: Petroleum Engineering
Team Result: 49-20 win at McKendree
Completed 24-of-29 passes for 226 yards and four touchdowns
Opened the contest with 12 straight completions and his 83 percent completion rate was his best single-game mark of his career
Threw for 202 yards and three scores in the first half as the Miners built a 35-10 lead after 30 minutes
Also had a rushing touchdown, thus accounting for five of the S&T’s seven touchdowns
Helped S&T reach the eight-win mark for just the sixth time in program history
Earns his seventh career Offensive Player of the Week award (11/16/15, 10/17/16, 10/30/17, 9/3/18, 10/1/18, 10/15/18)

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Team Result: 31-7 road win at Truman State
Racked up a game-high 12 tackles on the day
Recorded his first career interception in the third quarter, helping keep Truman off the board for the final 54-plus minutes of play
Part of a unit that held the Bulldogs to just 93 rushing yards after they came into the contest with the GLVC’s second-highest rushing average at 231 yards per game
Earns his first career Defensive Player of the Week award

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Matt Cole, McKendree

Major:Â Sport Management
Team Result: 49-20 loss vs. Missouri S&T
- Piled up 253 all-purpose yards on the day, including 211 kick return yards, averaging 52.8 yards on four attempts
- Had a 62-yard return late in the second quarter before posting a 97-yard kick return for a touchdown during the third quarter
- Also recorded a punt return for 26 yards
- In addition to his special teams prowess, he scored the Bearcats’ first touchdown of the day on a 9-yard run
- Earns his first career Special Teams Player of the Week award
