McKendree, S&T, Jewell Earn Weekly GLVC Football Honors
INDIANAPOLIS – McKendree University senior quarterback Reece Metcalf, William Jewell College junior defensive back Donte’ Colum, and Missouri S&T senior return specialist Roderick Chapman have been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Players of the Week in football, it was announced by the league office Monday.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Reece Metcalf, McKendree

Team Result: 47-41 home loss vs. Bowie State
A week after setting a career-high with four touchdowns passes in a win at Kentucky State, he threw for six touchdowns to go along with a career-high 354 yards on 25-of-44 passing
Six touchdowns matched school record set by Isaac Fisher and is tied for second in GLVC history (Fisher, Willie Tindal, Southwest Baptist)
Four of the six touchdowns came in the final 22 minutes of action as Bearcats nearly overcame a 28-point deficit
Has thrown 13 touchdown passes in three games, which matches his total from the entire 2017 season
Earns his third career Offensive Player of the Week award (10/31/16, 9/10/18)

Gave the Cardinals their first score of the game with an 82-yard interception return for a touchdown – the eighth-longest in GLVC history
Posted six tackles on the day, including four solo stops

Accumulated 147 yards in kick returns, including an 82-yard punt return for a touchdown as time expired in the fourth quarter
Punt return was the seventh-longest in GLVC history and longest by a Miner since Braxton Graham’s GLVC-record 93 yard return two seasons ago
Return for a TD extended a streak in which the Miners have had at least one return (kickoff, punt, interception or fumble) for a score to a school-record 14 consecutive years
Netted 65 yards on three kickoffs with a long of 29 yards
Also registered three tackles on the day, including two solo stops
