Michigan and Purdue Earn Weekly Men’s Basketball Honors

Michigan’s Isaiah Livers named Player of the Week;

Purdue’s Jaden Ivey named Freshman of the Week

 

Player of the Week

Isaiah Livers, Michigan
F – Sr. – 6-7 – Kalamazoo, Mich. – Kalamazoo Central (Mich.) – Major: General Studies

  • Averaged 21.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game in Michigan’s wins over Maryland and Purdue. Shot 54.5 percent from the field (12-for-22) on the week, while going 7-for-10 (70.0 pct.) from three-point range.
  • Led Michigan in scoring in both games, notching back-to-back 20-plus-point performances. Has now hit the 20-point mark in four contests this season.
  • Began the week by going 4-for-5 (80.0 pct.) from beyond the three-point arc in Michigan’s 87-63 victory over Maryland. Scored 20 points in the win, while adding three assits and five rebounds.
  • Notched his third-career double-double in the Wolverines’ win at Purdue. Registered a season-high-tying 22 points and a career-high-tying 10 rebounds. Also blocked two shots in the 70-53 road win.
  • Earns the first Player of the Week accolade of his career.

Freshman of the Week

Jaden Ivey, Purdue

G – 6-4 – South Bend, Ind. – La Lumiere School (Ind.) – Major: Undecided

  • Averaged 13.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game in contests against Ohio State and Michigan.
  • Hit the game-winning three-point shot with 5.0 seconds left on the clock in Purdue’s win over then-ranked No. 15/No. 18 Ohio State. Scored a career-high 15 points, while adding two assists and four rebounds. Eight of his 15 points game in the final 3.5 minutes of the contest.
  • Registered 12 points, five rebounds and a career-high five assists against Michigan.
  • Becomes the fourth Boilermaker freshman to be named Big Ten Freshman of the Week this season. Fellow freshmen Zach Edey (Nov. 11), Mason Gillis (Dec. 21) and Brandon Newman (Jan. 18) have all won the award this year.
  • Earns the first Freshman of the Week accolade of his career.
