Michigan, Northwestern and Rutgers Collect Big Ten Weekly Women’s Soccer Honors

Wolverines’ Beall, Wildcats’ Pearson and Scarlet Knights’ Ali and Kroeger are the first conference honorees this season

Offensive Player of the Week

Amirah Ali, Rutgers

Sr. – Voorhees, N.J. – Eastern Regional – Major: Criminal Justice

• Scored two goals, including the game-winner in the 86th minute, of Rutgers’ 3-2 victory over Penn State in the season opener for both teams on Feb. 19 in Hillsborough, N.J.

• Both of her goals came in the second half as the Scarlet Knights erased a 1-0 halftime deficit

• Moved into sixth on RU’s career goals list (27) and fifth with 11 career game-winning goals

• Earns her second career Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week award

• Last Rutgers Offensive Player of the Week: Nneka Moneme (Oct. 29, 2019)

Defensive Player of the Week

Hallie Pearson, Northwestern

Jr. – Carmel, Ind. – Brebeuf Jesuit – Intended Major: Biology

• Started at center back on Feb. 20 against Indiana in her NU debut after transferring from Arizona, playing all 90 minutes in a 1-0 win for the Wildcats at Ryan Fieldhouse

• Helped hold the Hoosiers to just six total shots and four on goal

• Led Northwestern to its first season-opening shutout since Aug. 18. 2017 (1-0 vs. DePaul)

• Earns her first career Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week award

• Last Northwestern Defensive Player of the Week: Danika Austin (Oct. 1, 2019)

Goalkeeper of the Week

Hillary Beall, Michigan

Sr. – Laguna Beach, Calif. – Crean Lutheran – Major: Communication

• Recorded a career-high 15 saves to help Michigan earn a 1-1 double-overtime draw at Ohio State on Feb. 20

• Tied for second-most saves in a game in school history and most since Oct. 31, 1997, when Carissa Stewart had a program-record 17 saves at Notre Dame

• Made several clutch saves in the second half and overtime periods while the Wolverines were playing with only 10 players

• Chosen as an Academic All-Big Ten selection in 2019-20

• Earns her second career Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Week award

• Last Michigan Goalkeeper of the Week: Hillary Beall (Sept. 17, 2019)

Freshman of the Week

Sam Kroeger, Rutgers

F – West Milford, N.J. – West Milford Township – Major: Undeclared

• Registered a goal and an assist in her college debut to help Rutgers edge Penn State, 3-2 on Feb. 19 in Hillsborough, N.J.

• Scored her first career goal in the 61st minute on an unassisted free kick from 20 yards

• Assisted on Amirah Ali’s game-winning goal in the 86th minute

• Earns her first career Freshman of the Week award
