Michigan State, Minnesota and Wisconsin Earn Weekly Volleyball Awards

Michigan State’s Rachel Minarick, Minnesota’s Dalianliz Rosado and Wisconsin’s Dana Rettke earn weekly honors

 

Player and Freshman of the Week

Dana Rettke, Wisconsin

MB – Riverside, Ill. – Riverside-Brookfield

• Averaged 5.1 kills and 1.1 blocks per set with a .642 hitting percentage as No. 9 Wisconsin went 1-1 in Big Ten action on the weekend

• Posted a match-high 14 kills, four blocks and hit .632 in the Badgers’ win over Maryland

• Registered a career-high 22 kills, while adding four blocks and was error-free for a .647 hitting percentage against fifth-ranked Minnesota

• Garners her second Player of the Week award and her sixth Freshman of the Week honor

Defensive Player of the Week

Dalianliz Rosado, Minnesota

L – Sr. – Morovis, Puerto Rico – Carmen Sol

• Registered 36 digs, six assists and was error-free on 32 reception attempts last weekend to help the Golden Gophers to wins over Ohio State and Wisconsin

• Posted 18 digs, two assists and a block in Minnesota’s straight-set victory at Ohio State

• Added 18 digs, four assists and was flawless in 27 reception attempts in the four-set win over Wisconsin

• The Academic All-Big Ten honoree collects her second career Defensive Player of the Week accolade

Setter of the Week

Rachel Minarick, Michigan State

S – Sr. – Naperville, Ill. – Waubonsie Valley

• Posted 97 set assists to average 13.9 per set in guiding No. 10 Michigan State to wins over Michigan and Maryland

• Registered a double-double with 58 assists and 11 digs to help the Spartans hit .310 in their four-set victory over Michigan 

• Became the third player in school history and 45th in the Big Ten to record 4,000 career assists after posting 39 assists in the Spartans’ straight-set victory over Maryland on Sunday

• The two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree receives her fifth career Setter of the Week citation and first of the season
