CLEVELAND, Ga.—A hat trick along with two assists from Uchenna Kanu combined with a two-goal, two-assist day from Aisha Solorzano helped the Fire come away with a 6-1 victory at Truett McConnell in a rematch of last year’s NAIA National Championship Opening Round match.

The Fire (3-1) controlled possession throughout, racking up 14 shots with 12 on goal. Truett McConnell registered nine total shots with two on goal, one resulting in the Bears’ goal off of a corner kick with 6:09 left in the first half, and the other knocked away on a diving save by Holly Eddins.

Kanu got the scoring started with 17:29 left in the first, heading in a service from Solorzano. The senior also scored the second, which was also assisted by Solorzano.

Solorzano picked up the first tally of the second half, finishing a cross from Kanu to put SEU up 3-1 just 2:08 into the second 45 minutes. Five minutes later, the Fire scored on a corner kick from Gabriela Labrador that was finished by Rachel Boyd for her first goal with Southeastern.

In the 60th minute, Kanu again connected with Solorzano as the junior from Guatamala put the Fire up 5-1.

Kanu completed the hat trick in the 62nd minute, heading in a ball from Isamar Duran.

The Fire return to action on Monday against Columbia International at 2 p.m.
