UPLAND, Ind. – The 17th-ranked TU women’s soccer team defeated RV Georgetown, 2-0, on the road Saturday afternoon to bounce back from a 1-0 loss at Cornerstone on Tuesday.

The Trojans controlled the match from start to finish, as senior Nikki Zaino gave TU a 1-0 lead with an unassisted goal in the 7th minute of the contest.

Taylor held a 6-2 edge over Georgetown (5-3-1) in shot attempts at the half, in addition to the 1-0 lead on the scoreboard.

The Purple and Gold increased its shot margin in the second stanza, as the visitors tallied 11 shots, compared to 2 for the Tigers, giving TU a 17-4 shot advantage for the game.

Junior Emily Calvani registered her first goal in a Trojan uniform in the 65th minute off of a corner kick to give Taylor its final score of the contest.

With the win, TU head coach Scott Stan now sits at 99 career wins, and the 17th-ranked Trojans (7-2) will look to give Coach Stan his 100th-career win in the team’s Crossroads League opener against RV Grace (3-2-3) inside Turner Stadium on Saturday, September 30, at 7:00 pm.
