No. 2 Spring Arbor Hands No. 21 TU Second League Loss

UPLAND, Ind. – The Taylor women’s soccer team suffered a 2-0 loss to Crossroads League foe, 2nd-ranked Spring Arbor, on Saturday night inside Turner Stadium to fall to 1-2 in league play.

TU’s Bailey Zehr had a scoring opportunity from close range early in the contest that went slightly wide of the right goalpost, after Emily Calvani sent a cross from the right-hand corner to Zehr.

The Cougars (11-1, 3-0 CL) notched their first score of the game in the 25th minute off a free kick, giving SAU a 1-0 lead, which the visitors held going into intermission.

Spring Arbor scored yet again early in the second half, netting its second goal in the 49th minute.

Megan Kammer came inches away from pulling the Trojans to within one, when the senior lined a shot just under the crossbar from 30 yards out, but SAU’s Ashley Timmons tipped the ball off the crossbar to preserve the shutout for the visitors.

The Cougars, who rank in the top-five nationally in shots per game, held a 17-9 shot advantage over TU on the evening.

No. 21 Taylor (8-4, 1-2 CL) will return to Turner Stadium on Wednesday, when it hosts Bethel (3-7-2, 1-2 CL) at 7:00 pm.
