No. 21 Taylor Drops Crossroads League Contest at MVNU

UPLAND, Ind. – The Taylor women’s soccer team suffered its first Crossroads League loss of the season, 2-1, at Mount Vernon Nazarene on Wednesday night.

The host Cougars (7-2-1, 1-0-1 CL) cracked the scoreboard first, as Amberly Knox found Alexa Skal for the game’s first goal with 35:11 remaining in the opening half.

TU netted its only goal of the contest in the 41st minute to knot the score at 1-1, when Bailey Zehr converted off Megan Kammer’s assist, but MVNU added the game-winner in the 59th minute to seal the 2-1 victory for Mount Vernon.

Taylor held a 16-9 shot advantage and a 4-0 edge on corner kicks on the night, but was unable to turn the extra opportunities into scores.

The 21st-ranked Trojans (8-3, 1-1 CL) will return home to host No. 2 Spring Arbor (10-1, 2-0 CL) inside Turner Stadium on Saturday at 6:00 pm.
