No. 22 TU Tallies Loss at No. 1 Spring Arbor
SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – In a Crossroads League battle of two NAIA Top-25 teams, No. 1 Spring Arbor clinched a 2-0 victory over No. 22 Taylor on Wednesday.
TU (7-1-2, 0-1 CL) was going for its fifth shutout in a row and attempting to remain unbeaten in 2018, but the Cougars (7-0-1, 1-0 CL) had different ideas.
Spring Arbor landed in the scoring column early on a netter in the first five minutes of action and held the lead the rest of the way.
Coach Scott Stan’s defense felt pressure all evening as it faced 19 shots, with 10 on-goal. TU’s offense tallied five shots and had two on target.
Sophomore goalie Megan Williams tied her career high with eight saves tonight.
Emily Calvani and Erin Teevans both had two shots and one on-frame for TU. Ali Clodgo provided another shot attempt for the Trojans.
The Purple and Gold return to action on Saturday, as the squad visits Bethel (3-2-4, 1-0 CL) for another league contest. The match will begin at 2:00 p.m.
