- 25 MARIAN DEFEATS TROJANS

INDIANAPOLIS – The 25th-ranked Knights of Marian defeated Taylor in straight sets on Wednesday in Crossroads League action.
Taylor (14-10, 5-6 CL) struggled offensively, tallying just 29 kills in 137 attempts while committing 20 hitting errors for a .066 hitting percentage in the contest. The Trojans dropped the first two sets by 25-17 scores before Marian (19-3, 10-1 CL) withstood a Taylor rally to claim the sweep with a 26-24 win in the third set.
Senior Becca Gerig led the Trojans with seven kills while fellow senior Rachel Bouma added six kills and senior Kayla Springer added five terminations. Freshman Brooke Syswerda dished out 11 assists for the Trojans while junior Haley Harrell tallied ten assists and added a team-high 18 digs.
Marian, who holds the highest hitting percentage in the Crossroads League, recorded a .209 hitting percentage with 45 kills and 17 hitting errors in 134 attacks. The Knights also added seven aces and tallied six team blocks.
Taylor returns home this weekend for the first two games in a three-game home stand. The Trojans will host Saint Francis on Friday night at 7:00 pm and will host Spring Arbor on Saturday at 4:00 pm as part of Homecoming and Family Weekend festivities.
