Noblesville Wins First Championship Match Appearance

Sophomore Kiana Siefert’s goal in the 44th minute lifted second-ranked Noblesville to a 1-0 victory over No. 1 Carmel in the Class 3-A girls state championship game.

In a game that proved as closely matched as expected, Siefert’s goal came after a cross pass from Jenna Chatterton from eight yards out.

The win for the Millers and coach Mike Brady is the first in three state-championship game appearances. Noblesville (17-0-3) lost in the title game in 2000 and 2008.

The loss denied Carmel (18-1-3) and long-time head coach Frank Dixon a state-best 11th championship. The Greyhounds are now 10-4 all-time in state title games.

The game was the second and final matchup of No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the championship round. Second-ranked Park Tudor beat top-ranked Lafayette Central Catholic in the Class A girls contest.

Carmel outshot Noblesville, 14-11 and had an 8-6 advantage in shots on goal. Noblesville goalkeeper Sarah Kile had seven saves.

The teams had met previously and finished in a 1-1 tie.
