Oden Drops 27, Boilers Top No. 21 Miami 74-63
The Boilermakers drained 12-of-18 from 3-point range to pick up the ACC/Big Ten Challenge win

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue junior Dominique Oden started hot and stayed hot Thursday, pouring in a career-high 27 points to lead the Boilermaker women’s basketball team to a 74-63 win over 21st-ranked visiting Miami in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. The Boilermakers hit a dozen 3-pointers, matching the sixth-best single-game mark in program history, to improve to 6-2 on the season and remain a perfect 4-0 on their home floor.
Reminiscent of the victory over Ole Miss last week Oden came out firing, scoring the Boilermakers’ first nine points and racing the team out to an early lead. She scored 12 points in the first quarter, leading her team to a 24-15 advantage, and proceeded to not miss a shot the rest of the game, hitting her final five shots and four free throws to keep the Hurricanes at bay throughout the game. The 27-point burst leaves Oden 12 points shy of the 1,000 career point mark, aiming to become the 16th player in program history to accomplish the feat in less than three seasons.
Miami rallied from the early deficit, cutting Purdue’s lead to 40-35 at the half, and holding Purdue to nine third-quarter points to make it 49-46 heading to the final quarter. However the Hurricanes would get no closer as Oden, classmate Ae’Rianna Harris and sophomore Karissa McLaughlin teamed for 21 of the 25 fourth-quarter points to seal up the win.
McLaughlin finished with 18 points, tying a Boilermaker single-game record by going five-for-five from 3-point range and joining Oden, Ashley Morrissette, Jodi Howell and Carol Madsen in the record books. McLaughlin added seven assists and a pair of steals against just two turnovers. Harris added 11 points and seven rebounds, despite missing most of the first half with foul trouble, and made a move in the Boilermaker record books as well, rejecting four shots to move her career total to 197 and passing Camille Cooper for third all-time at Purdue. She remains shy of only Stacey Lovelace (220) and Lindsay Wisdom-Hylton (281) on the Boilermakers’ career record list.
Sophomore Tamara Farquhar made a significant addition to the effort, finishing with four points, seven rebounds and three assists, and freshman Kayana Traylor gave the team a huge boost off the bench with eight points and four assists
Miami suffers its second loss of the season, moving to 6-2 despite 25 points, 15 rebounds and four blocks for senior Emese Hof. Leading scorer Beatrice Mompremier was held to eight points and seven rebounds, hitting only four-of-13 from the field, and Hof was the only Hurricane in double figures.
Purdue heads back on the road next week, traveling to Ohio University on Wednesday for a midweek tip. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET and will air live on ESPN+ and the Purdue Radio Network.
