COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 2 Ohio State (1-0) scored a third-quarter touchdown to take the lead and added another score in the fourth to defeat No. 5 Notre Dame (0-1) 21-10 in an early-season battle at Ohio Stadium.

After the Buckeyes took the lead in the third, Notre Dame punted on its fifth-consecutive possession early in the fourth quarter, giving the Buckeyes the ball on the Irish 5-yard line.

Behind the running of Miyan Williams, the Buckeyes went 95 yards on 14 plays to put the game away on a 2-yard Williams touchdown rush to give Ohio State a 21-10 lead. Williams finished the game with 84 yards on 14 carries and a score. TreVeyon Henderson led the running backs with 91 yards on 15 carries.

C.J. Stroud completed 24 of 34 passing attempts for 223 yards and two touchdowns. Emeka Egbuka led the receivers with nine catches for 90 yards and a touchdown.

Defensively, linebacker Tommy Eichenberg paced the Buckeyes with nine tackles, three for loss and a pair of sacks.

Ohio State will continue its stretch of five consecutive home games to start the season against Arkansas State at noon next Saturday at Ohio Stadium, which is celebrating its 100th year as the home of the Buckeyes in 2022. The game will be televised by Big Ten Network.
