Ohio State Swept by No. 8 Penn State

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Ohio State women’s volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision (25-12, 25-20, 25-19) to No. 8 Penn State at Rec Hall Saturday night. The loss puts the Buckeyes at 9-9 (2-4 B1G) while the Nittany Lions improve to 12-3 (5-1 B1G).
For the second match, Jenaisya Moore paced the offense, this time with 12 kills. Vanja Bukilić earned four kills and two service aces while Madison Smeathers, Jordan Fry, Elle Sandbothe and Gabby Gonzales had three kills apiece. Becca Mauer added 17 assists and Kylie Murr posted eight digs. Mac Podraza and Camry Halm notched six and five digs, respectively.
SET 1: The first few points were split evenly between both teams but the Nittany Lions pulled away, 11-4. The Buckeyes called a timeout down 15-9 as they tried to regroup. Out of the break, Penn State rolled to take the set, 25-12.
SET 2: An ace by Hannah Gruensfelder locked the score at 10-all. The teams exchanged points before Ohio State took a 15-13 lead on a kill by Gonzales. Penn State came back to tie the set at 18-18 and went on to claim a 25-20 victory.
SET 3: Gonzales served up an ace and Bukilić had a kill for an 11-9 edge. The Nittany Lions regained the lead and went on to win the frame, 25-19.
