Orme’s Stellar Outing, Strong Team Effort Carries Taylor To Victory Over Huntington On Senior Night
UPLAND, Ind. – Behind a remarkable performance from Morgan Orme, together with stellar play at all levels of the pitch, the Trojans recorded their fifth victory of the season on Saturday night at Turner Stadium, defeating the Huntington Foresters 5-0.
The Trojans (5-4-0, 3-4-0 CL) controlled the contest from the opening kickoff, dominating possession and racking up a plethora of shots and scoring opportunities. For the match, the Trojans outshot the Foresters 37-4, which included an incredible 23-1 margin in shots on target. Additionally, the Trojans allowed just one Forester shot after halftime.
Orme tied her career-high in points with four, which she set in Taylor’s first game against Huntington (1-8-1, 1-6-1 CL) back on September 16, finishing with a goal and two assists. Orme, together with Linli Tu and Erin Teevans, who also scored on Saturday, now lead TU with five goals apiece. Additionally, Hannah Dempsey collected the first goal of her collegiate career in the first half.
Tu and Dempsey scored just 2:32 apart midway through the first half, giving the Trojans a 2-0 cushion. Both goals came off corner kicks from Orme. Eight minutes after Dempsey’s tally, Alanna Raikes added to Taylor’s advantage on a well-placed, left-footed, turn-around shot in the 33rd minute, putting the Trojans up 3-0 at the halftime break.
Taylor kept the pedal down in the second half. Teevans scored in the 63rd minute off an assist from Hannah Martinez, while Orme recorded Taylor’s final tally off a cross from Tu seven minutes later.
With the win, Taylor completed its season sweep of Huntington, outscoring the Foresters 11-1 in their two contests.
At halftime, Taylor celebrated the careers of Orme, Martinez, Victoria Hilse, and Reyna Williams, along with student assistant Natalie Hummer and senior manager Danielle Parker. The group has led the Trojans to an impressive 40 victories over the last four seasons, including 22 wins at Turner Stadium.
The Trojans will be back on the road on Wednesday, traveling to Bethel to take on the Pilots (1-5-0, 1-5-0 CL). Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
