Women’s Basketball Ends Road Trip With Loss Against Michigan Tech
HOUGHTON, Mich. — The Purdue Northwest women’s basketball team was unable to overcome a slow start as the Pride dropped a road Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game to Michigan Tech, 79-54, Saturday.
Junior Bayley Goodman (Fowler, Ind./Benton Central) led the Pride (2-7, 0-4 GLIAC) with a season-high 17 points. Sophomore Lanie Allen (East Noble, Ind./East Noble) added 12 points and pulled down a season-best eight rebounds.
Michigan Tech started off the first quarter leading 19-10 and expanded on that lead to 40-25 as both teams went into halftime.
PNW had a strong third quarter, cutting the Huskies lead to 12 thanks to back-to-back jumpshots by Goodman, which led the Pride to outscore Tech 21-19 in the third quarter to make it a 59-46 game.
However, midway through the fourth quarter, Tech put the game out of reach as the Huskies went on a run to expand their lead as big as 25 and that would stand for the final score.
The Huskies (6-4, 3-1 GLIAC) had three players in double figures, including leader Cassidy Trotter, who had 17 points.
PNW returns to action next Saturday, December 15 as the Pride host University of Indianapolis on the Hammond Campus starting at 1 p.m. CT.
