Women’s Basketball Falls to (25) Lewis Tuesday
HAMMOND, Ind. – The Purdue University Northwest women’s basketball team was not able to overcome a strong offensive performance from Lewis University, as the Pride (1-3) dropped a non-conference game to the No. 25 Flyers (4-1) at John Friend Court inside the Fitness and the Recreation Center Tuesday.
Lewis started the game on a 10-0 run before freshman Brittany Barnard (Kokomo, Ind./Kokomo) ended the strong start from the Flyers with a jumper.
Lewis had a strong shooting performance for the rest of the quarter as well as the half, as the Flyers had a 24-point advantage heading in to the locker room.
PNW had a strong showing in the third quarter scoring 24 points but Lewis was able to extend their lead and come away with the win.
Rhonehouse led PNW with 13 points and seven rebounds. Tayler Vauters (Rockville, Ind./Riverton Parke) scored 10 points and grabbed seven boards.
PNW returns to action Saturday, November 24 as the Pride travel to Illinois-Springfield to take on the Prairie Stars starting at 1 p.m. CT.
