PNW Women’s Soccer Drops GLIAC Road Game to No. 4 Grand Valley State, 9-0

Grand Rapids, Mich. – The Purdue Northwest women’s soccer team fell behind early and never recovered en route to a 9-0  Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) loss to No. 4 ranked Grand Valley State University (Mich.) Friday evening at GVSU Soccer Field in Grand Rapids, Mich.  Junior Lucie Ashmore (Greystones, Ireland/St. Gerald’s School) was the Pride’s starting keeper and finished the game with 17 saves.

 

PNW was unable to record a shot in the game and Grand Valley State capitalized with 51 total shots, including 26 shots on goal.  The Lakers took a 1-0 lead in the 8th minute of play off a goal by Gianna Parlove. Grand Valley State scored three more goal in the first half in the 21st, 27th and 30th minutes to take a 4-0 lead into halftime.  The Lakers added five more goals in the second half with two coming from Tara Lierman and two more coming from Katrina Giantsopoulos to lead the charge.

 

Purdue Northwest (0-11-0 overall/0-7-0 GLIAC) continues conference play on Sunday, October 15, with a road game against Ferris State University (Mich.).  The game is scheduled for an 11 a.m. CT start Sunday at FSU Turf Field in Big Rapids, Mich.
