PNW Women’s Soccer Drops Non-Conference Game to Lewis, 6-0
HAMMOND, Ind. – The Purdue Northwest women’s soccer team dropped a non-conference game to visiting Lewis University (Ill.), 6-0, Tuesday afternoon at Pepsi Field in Dowling Park in Hammond, Ind.  Junior Lucie Ashmore (Greystones, Ireland/St. Gerald’s School) recorded three saves for the Pride playing all 90 minutes in goal.

The Flyers took an early 2-0 lead with a pair of goals by sophomore Kailey Parnello in the game’s eighth and 14th minutes, respectively.  The PNW defense kept the Lewis offense in check for the remainder of the first half and for the first 20 minutes of the second half.

However, LU added two more goals within a minute of each other in the 67th and 68th minutes with the first coming on a header by freshman Cali Havelka-Vanderplow and the second on a shot from the right side by sophomore Mallory Richardson.  Lewis extended its lead to 5-0 in the 76th minute on a breakaway goal by sophomore Carley Patterson and notched its final goal two minutes later on a long shot by sophomore Alissa Waits.

The Pride finished the game with five total shots, including two shots on goal, one by junior Christina Kotas (Alsip, Ill./Alan B. Shepard) and the other by freshman Brook Switzer (Lafayette, Ind./Lafayette Jefferson).

Purdue Northwest (0-13-0 overall/0-8-0) heads to Grand Rapids, Mich., on Sunday, October 22, to take on Davenport University (Mich.) for its final Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) game of the season.  The conference road game is scheduled for a 12 p.m. CT start at DU Turf Field in Grand Rapids.
