PNW Women’s Soccer Falls in Double Overtime to Southern Indiana
HAMMOND, Ind. — The Purdue Northwest women’s soccer team fell to the University of Southern Indiana 2-1 at Dowling Park Saturday afternoon at the PNW Fall Festival.
The match was scoreless through the first 45 minutes, but the Pride would break the tie midway through the second half. Freshman Reanna Soto (Merrilville, Ind./Merrilville) knocked in an impressive shot that deflected right off of USI goal keeper Emily Hopkins to give PNW the 1-0 advantage.
In the 85th minute. UIS evened the score at one goal apiece after Madeline Weston was able to find the back of the net. The match went into overtime as neither team could close out in regulation.
The match was concluded in double overtime when USI’s Emilie Blomenkamp kicked in the game-winning goal .
The Pride will be back in action Tuesday as they travel to Upland, Ind. to face Taylor University. The match is set to being at 5:00 pm (CST).
