Pride Can’t Overcome Hot-Shooting Wildcats

HAMMOND, Ind. — The Purdue Northwest men’s basketball team fell in a road GLIAC contest Thursday 108-69 at Northern Michigan. The Wildcats jumped out to a 17-2 lead and never relented as they hounded the Pride offensive attack.

Gregory Boyle was the leading scorer for the Black and Gold as he put up 17 points and two assists. The offense for PNW struggled mightily as they committed 18 turnovers, which the Wildcats converted into 25 points off turnovers. Northern Michigan wound up scoring 63 in the first half as they shot an impressive 15 of 30 from behind the three-point line.

The Wildcats also were remarkably efficient, shooting 65.1% from the field as the Pride had no answers on defense. Naba Echols had 20 points and dished out nine assists. Reigning GLIAC Player of the Week Isaiah Johnson had 17 points and three assists.

Dean Tate scored 11 points and had a pair of assists and rebounds. Anthony Barnard also found his way into double-digits with 10 points and four rebounds.
