Pride Complete 2018 Season on Senior Day

HAMMOND, Ind. – The Purdue Northwest women’s volleyball team came up short on senior day Saturday as they fell to the Grand Valley State Lakers (12-14, 5-10 GLIAC) in four sets.

Two seniors led the way for PNW in kills, as Jenna Pasko (Lansing, Ill./T.F. South) and Carissa Jones (Whiting, Ind./Bishop Noll) finished with 13 and 10 respectively. Annie Pulizos (Greendale, Wis./Greendale) hit an impressive .438, while Pasko registered a double-double with 11 digs to go along with her 13 kills.

The Pride battled back after falling behind early in the first set, fueled by consecutive aces from senior Casey Neulieb (Michigan City, Ind./Michigan City). The Lakers would close strong and take the opening set on a service error from Kylie Tincher (Sellersburg, Ind./Rock Creek Academy).

The Pride once again fell behind but roared back behind three consecutive kills from Pasko. PNW closed out and won the second set on back-to-back attack errors from the Lakers. Pasko finished with five kills in the set.

After keeping it close early in the third set, Grand Valley State went on a 6-1 run to push their lead out to 10-4. The teams battled but ultimately the Lakers came out on top 25-17 after a kill from Fernanda Spengler.

A kill from senior Morgan Spencer (Oswego, Ill./Aurora Central Catholic) put the Pride up 4-3 in the fourth set, but the Black and Gold were ultimately overmatched and never retook the lead.

The Pride say goodbye to six seniors as the 2018 season wraps up: Hannah Thomas (Frankton, Ind./Frankton), Carissa Jones, Jenna Pasko, Casey Neulieb, Kylie Tincher, and Morgan Spencer.
