Pride Fall to No. 2 Grand Valley State

HAMMOND, Ind. — The Purdue University Northwest women’s soccer team (2-8, 0-3 GLIAC) was defeated in a conference match Friday 10-0 by the #2 Grand Valley State Lakers (8-0-1, 3-0-1 GLIAC) at Pepsi Field.

The Lakers came out on the attack, as they scored eight goals in the first half, including Madeline Becker with a hat trick before the first intermission. Ava Cook also finished the first half for GVSU with a pair of goals.

The Pride had several good chances, as Camryn Rassbach (Hobart, Ind./Hobart)Kiana Chandler (Lowell, Ind./Lowell), and Shelby Ross (Marquette, Mich./Columbus North) all had shots saved by the Lakers.

 

Rain picked up as the second half got underway, and the Lakers continued to pour it on. Chelsea Graves was able to put one through in the 50th minute, and a Kristy Gomez strike made it 10-0 in the 68th minute.

Freshman Halle Stork (Stanwood, Mich./Big Rapids) got the start at goal and made three saves in 45 minutes of action. Kelley Sharp (Seymour, Ind./Seymour) came in for the second half and made three saves.

PNW will be back at it Sunday afternoon as they play host to the Davenport Panthers (2-4) at 3 p.m. (CST) from Dowling Park.
