Purdue Northwest Volleyball Falls in GLIAC Match to Ashland
WESTVILLE, Ind. –
 The Purdue University Northwest volleyball team dropped a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) match in H.D. Kesling Gymnasium at the Dworkin Student Services and Activities Center to Ashland University (Ohio), 3-0, Friday evening.

 

The Pride were led by Gabrielle Martin (DeMotte, Ind./Kankakee Valley), who notched a team-high nine kills with 11 digs, while Brooke Ahrens (Covington, Ind./Covington) and Carissa Jones (Whiting, Ind./Bishop Noll) each tallied seven kills apiece.

 

Eudora Negri (Munster, Ind./Munster) notched a team-best 13 assists and nine digs to round out the leaders for the Black and Gold.

 

The Pride trailed early in the opening set, 11-4, but battled back to get within two points, after a kill from Ahrens put the score at 15-13.

 

Ashland answered back and won the first set, 25-19, before taking a 2-0 advantage in the second set, after winning 25-10.

 

Kayla Elsea (Palmyra, Ind./Crawford County) recorded a kill midway through the third set to give the Pride a 13-9 lead over the Eagles, but Ashland came back to even the score at 19-19.

 

Ashland took control in the final few points of the final set to come away with a 25-20 victory to defeat PNW in three sets.

Purdue Northwest (6-22 overall/1-12 GLIAC) returns to action tomorrow, Nov. 4, when they host Tiffin University (Ohio) in a GLIAC contest starting at 2 pm (CT) at the Fitness and Recreation Center in Hammond, Ind.  Prior to the match, the Pride will honor their 2017 senior class in a special ceremony in recognition of Senior Day.
