PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers football (4-3, 1-3) defeated Indiana (3-5, 1-4), 24-17, on Saturday afternoon at SHI Stadium. The Scarlet Knights scored 24 unanswered points against the Hoosiers on Homecoming for their first Big Ten Conference victory of the season.
RB Samuel Brown V recorded 28 carries for 101 yards and a touchdown to pace RU’s offense, while QB Noah Vedral found WR Sean Ryan for a 15-yard touchdown pass.
Rutgers’ defense held IU to just 85 yards in the second half, as LB Deion Jennings and DB Christian Izien added nine tackles apiece. DB Christian Braswell recorded three pass breakups and a pick-six in the fourth quarter, while DL Aaron Lewis contributed two tackles-for-loss.

- Rutgers defeated Indiana for the second-straight season and for the fourth time overall.
- Rutgers holds a winning record (4-3) through seven games for the first time since 2014.
- Rutgers scored 24 unanswered points, its second-best scoring run in a Big Ten game after the 28 to finish the 2015 win at Indiana.

- Rutgers held the ball for 38:53, its highest time of possession in a Big Ten game since entering the league. That included holding the ball for 13:45 in the third quarter compared to 1:15 by Indiana. The Hoosiers entered the day averaging 79 offensive plays per game and ran just 60 in the game.
- The defense held has now held its opponent to under 75 rushing yards in 5-of-7 games after limiting Indiana to 62.
- RB Samuel Brown V rushed for 101 yards on 28 carries to set career highs. It was the most rushing attempts by a Scarlet Knight in a Big Ten game since entering the league, most by a Rutgers true freshman since Terrell Willis had 37 on Oct. 16, 1993, at Army and most overall since Paul James’ 29 at Washington State on Aug. 28, 2014. The previous Rutgers true freshman to run for 100 or more yards in a game was Isiah Pacheco versus No. 4 Michigan on Nov. 10, 2018. Brown scored his third touchdown of the season to put Rutgers ahead in the third quarter.
