FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The TU women’s basketball squad dominated in Saturday’s matchup against Saint Francis (9-7, 3-4 CL), defeating the host team by a final score of 87-52. Taylor extended its winning streak to eight games, while improving its record on the season to 14-3 overall and 7-2 in the Crossroads League.

Significant separation between the two teams came early, as the Trojans posted a 12-2 run within a three-minute stretch in the first quarter. TU shot the ball well to start the match, hitting three triples, while connecting on 50.0 percent of its attempts from deep.

James led a powerful Taylor offense on Saturday, notching 24 points on eight-of-12 shooting from the floor and seven-of-10 shooting from three-point land. For the fourth time this season, the junior guard surpassed 20 points, while also reaching double-digits for the 13th time this year.

The third quarter proved to be their best, as the Trojans piled on 32 points in the ten-minute span. The TU squad made 12 field goals with only two misses for an 85.7 percentage from the field.

The Purple and Gold grabbed their largest lead in the final quarter, leading USF by 42 points. The reserves brought the game to spectacular finish, nabbing the 87-52 victory.

Madisyn Fischer also made an impact on the scoreboard, collecting a career-high 20 points. The senior sank four treys, while going 7-12 from the planks.

An all-around effort came in from James who paced the Trojans in not only points but also rebounds with eight, assists with four and steals with three.
