Second Half Scoring Spree Helps TU Nab Home Victory
UPLAND, Ind. – The Trojans collected three goals in the second half of action, overcoming a 1-0 deficit after the initial 45 minutes. The win marked the sixth of the season for TU, as the team remained undefeated at home.
Erin Teevans and Riley Massey were the stars of the show, as each Trojan notched a goal and an assist. Massey helped Taylor get on the scoreboard and tie the match with a great free kick that found the head of Linli Tu. The midfielder placed a great header into the net for her third goal of the season.
Massey and Teevans paired up for the game-winning goal in the 52nd minute. Teevans lobbed in corner kick that landed at the feet of Massey, who knocked in her team-leading fourth goal of 2019.
Taylor (6-1) controlled the tempo of Saturday’s match, delivering 16 shots compared to just six from Indiana Tech (4-1). The offensive surge from Taylor gave the Warriors their first loss of the year, as TU took seven more corners than the visiting squad.
The third and final goal came through the freshman, AC Hardy, who dished out her first career assist. Teevans finished it off for a 3-1 final score.
The Trojans will continue their four-game homestand on Wednesday at 7:00 pm, facing Georgetown College (3-3) in Turner Stadium.
