KANSAS CITY, Mo.—Following its season-opening win at Point, the Fire football team moved up to 17th in the AFCA NAIA Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, released conjointly by the two organizations.
The Fire moved up two spots from their preseason ranking. Southeastern received a total of 140 points from the panel of head coaches representing each conference with one rater per four schools in the league.
Defending national champion Morningside was the unanimous choice for the top spot.
Southeastern is one of six Mid-South Conference programs in the poll, but the only one from the Sun Division ranked.
The Fire will host Georgetown, which dropped out of the Top 25, on Saturday at 7 p.m. for the 2019 home opener.
