KANSAS CITY, Mo.—The Fire men’s basketball team is ranked 11th in the NAIA Division II Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, released this afternoon by the national office.
This marks just the third preseason ranking in program history, and the first since 2015. SEU was ranked ninth in the 2014-15 preseason poll, coming off of a run to the national semifinals the previous season. The Fire cracked the preseason poll the following season at No. 23.
Southeastern is one of three Sun Conference teams in the preseason poll, joined by Warner at 19th, and St. Thomas at 25. Keiser is also receiving votes.
Defending national champion Indiana Wesleyan, which comes to The Furnace to take on the Fire December 14 is at the top of the poll. Also on the schedule this season are No. 5 Indiana Tech and No. 16 Saint Francis (Ind.).
The Fire open their season with an exhibition against the Martinique National Team on November 6.
