LAKELAND, Fla. – An early goal by senior Jake Van Der Luit gave the Fire the lead for good as they topped Brewton-Parker 3-0, moving No. 18 Southeastern to 5-0-1 on the season.
Van Der Luit finished his goal in the sixth minute after receiving the assist coming off a beautiful through ball from sophomore Julian Hall, who found Van Der Luit after receiving a touch from sophomore Shawn Hardy. Later in the 35th minute of the game senior Jackson Darnell put away his second goal of the season coming from Jack Miller’s assist, his first on the year.
The third and final goal of the game for the Fire came in the 56th minute from senior Craig Barker, his first on the season. Barker finished a perfectly placed assist from senior Banabas Ganidekam who set Barker up right in front of the net.
Southeastern pressured the Barons early and often, outshooting them 22 to 7, with 11 of those shots on goal.
Freshman Carlos Curado didn’t allow a goal to Brewton-Parker, saving three shots in the process. Curado’s shutout is his first on the season.
The 18th ranked Fire return to action when the square off against Rollins College in an exhibition on September 20 at 6 p.m.
