JACKSONVILLE, Fla.—The Fire offense generated 31 runs on 33 hits in 11 innings to help Southeastern sweep its season opening doubleheader at Trinity Baptist by the scores of 13-0 and 19-1.

In addition to the offense, the Fire pitching staff had a solid showing, giving up just three hits. Hannah Bodenhorn was stellar in the first game, striking out 14 of the 20 batters she faced. After issuing a walk to the first batter she saw, the senior struck out the next nine she saw. Bodenhorn struck out the side in the second, third, and sixth innings. The lone hit allowed was with two outs on a bloop single to second base.

Haleigh Harrell was the catalyst at the plate, driving in four runs with a 1-2 performance, picking up a homer, and three runs scored. Bailee Moll drove in three, going 2-for-4 with two runs, and a home run. Senior Heather Faulk posted a 3-for-4 performance with three runs scored.

Sam Holcomb had the first home run of the season in the third with a solo shot to center field.

The Fire got off to a fast start in the second game, getting a two-run single from Moll, an RBI triple from Harrell, who scored on a passed ball.

Southeastern tacked on two more in the second, and added four more in the third. The big inning for the Fire came in the fifth, getting two RBIs on a double down the line by Kaylee Orr, who also had a two-run homer in the fourth. SEU also got an RBI double from Moll, who scored on a wild pitch, an RBI single from Whittney Purdy, and an RBI double from Lauren Watters.

In the circle, Cheyenne Benson-Ross picked up her first win tossing four innings allowing one run on two hits with five strikeouts.

Holcomb, Moll, Watters, and Harrell all were 3-for-4. Moll and Orr had four RBIs each.

The Fire return to action on February 14 at the Russ-Matt Softball Tournament in Winter Haven, facing Mount Mercy, and 11th-ranked Campbellsville.
