Positively Promoting the Student Athlete Since 1992

LAKELAND, Fla.—Southeastern University Track & Field Coach Nick Dodson announced his team’s 2019-20 schedule earlier today.

The indoor season will start in Miami on December 7th with the ASA College Indoor Challenge. During the indoor portion of the season, the Fire will participate in six meets with the NAIA Indoor National Championships occurring March 5-7 in Brookings, S.D.

“I’m really excited about our schedule this season as we feel we added quality competitions both in-state and out of state to put our team in position to accomplish our goals at both the conference and national meet,” said Dodson.

Southeastern will run twice in nearby Frostproof on January 18th at the Webber International Warrior Invitational, then again on February 8th for the Webber International Warrior Alumni Meet. The Fire will also compete at the Embry-Riddle Indoor/Outdoor Challenge in Daytona Beach on January 25th.

Two weeks after indoor nationals, the outdoor season begins with the distance runners competing at the USF Invitational in Tampa and the rest of the team heading to the UCF Black and Gold Challenge in Orlando. The following week, the Fire will return to UCF for the Knights Invitational.

During the weekend of April 4th, SEU will be represented at the Embry-Riddle Spikes Classic in Daytona as well as the Pepsi Florida Relays in Gainesville.

“With the success we had last season as a first year program, we were able to get into some meets this year that we wouldn’t have been able to get in last season,” said Dodson. “As a program, that is exciting as we know we are headed in the right direction.”

The Fire will look to defend both their men’s and women’s Sun Conference Championships April 25th and 26th at the conference meet, which takes place at IMG Academy in Bradenton this year.

The NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships will return to Gulf Shores, Ala. May 20-22
