KANSAS CITY, Mo.- The Southeastern University women’s soccer program continues to garner success on both the pitch and in the classroom. The Fire earned recognition by the United Soccer Coaches with the Team Academic Award for the 2018-19 Academic Year.
A total of 995 intercollegiate soccer teams (346 men, 649 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the 2018-19 academic year, qualifying them for this distinction.
Under the leadership of head coach Randy Belli, the 2018 Southeastern team posted a 3.33 team GPA, while placing seven student-athletes on the Academic All-Sun Conference Team and having six individuals honored as NAIA-Daktronics Scholar Athletes.
On the field in 2018, the Fire posted a single-season program record in wins (20), goals scored (116), captured a share of The Sun Conference Regular Season Championship, and advanced to the NAIA National Tournament Semifinals, the farthest advancement in program history.
The 2019 SEU team is currently 9-2, including 3-0 in Sun Conference play.
Coach Belli and the Fire take the pitch tomorrow afternoon in Babson Park against the Webber International University Warriors. Match time is set for 2:30 p.m.
