Southeastern to Dedicate POW/MIA Chair at Victory Field

During the final game of the regular season against Faulkner University, there will be one seat in Victory Field that will be vacant, and will continue to remain vacant for any and all games to follow.

Southeastern will unveil a Chair of Honor, in recognition of the men and women of the United States armed forces who are prisoners of war or missing in action. The presentation will take place during halftime on Thursday, November 8th. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.

“We are truly grateful for the sacrifices made by the members of our military and their families,” said Southeastern University Director of Athletics Drew Watson. “I am honored that we have the opportunity to memorialize those who have given their lives or who are missing in action in service to our great country with the installation of this seat in the stadium. It will forever remind us that the freedoms we enjoy came at a cost and should never be taken for granted.”

Purchased through Hussey Seating, the chair sits near midfield in Section 105, with a perfect view of the entire gridiron, the best location to honor those who have sacrificed for our nation.

Prior to kickoff, the presentation of colors will take place featuring a large American flag donated by Lakeland Electric. Retired Navy Colonel Gary Clark will receive the game ball on behalf of the Veterans of Polk County.

Veterans, servicemen and servicewoman are invited to attend this Salute to Veterans event as guests of the University.  Complimentary tickets can be reserved by calling 863.667.5350 or at the Victory Field ticket office.
