Stan Nabs 200th Career Victory, TU Dominates at Home
UPLAND, Ind. – The Taylor women’s soccer squad took care of business under the lights at Turner Stadium, defeating Cincinnati Christian 5-0 for Scott Stan’s 200th career win as a women’s soccer head coach.
The Trojans (3-1) dominated on Saturday, maintaining consistent ball control throughout the night. The team rattled off 38 total shots, as they continued to find open looks at the net.
On the other side of the ball, TU’s defense ousted any Cincinnati Christian (1-2) momentum, allowing just five shots. Two shots came on-goal, as Megan Williams secured one save in the first half, while Lauren Cammarano recorded one in the second half.
Linli Tu made a great play to give Taylor the lead in the ninth minute. Senior Danielle Toren passed the ball through the defense to Tu, who crossed a defender and knocked the ball in with her left foot.
The scoring continued with a rocket from Riley Massey’s left foot that sailed right over the goalie. Ali Clodgo delivered the cross for her first assist of the season. Emma Walsh capped off the first half with her first goal of the 2019 campaign, corralling the rebound off an Eagles save and putting it in the back of the net.
TU’s intensity remained strong in the second 45 minutes of the contest. Hannah Davis beat her defender just five minutes into the half, before sending a pass to Erin Teevans who easily punched it in to give Taylor a 4-0 lead. Freshman Lauren Cina picked up her first career assist on the Trojans final goal, leading Walsh right past the goalie for an easy tap in, scoring her second goal of the match.
The 5-0 victory marked the third triumph with at least four goals for the Trojans in 2019. Through the first four contests, TU has displayed great strength with a goal differential of positive 11.
The TU squad will return to action back at home against Concordia (2-1) on Saturday at 4:00 pm.
