Taylor Announces Change of Leadership Within Football Program

UPLAND, Ind. – Taylor University and Director of Athletics Kyle Gould announced on Monday that Ron Korfmacher will not be retained as TU’s head football coach.

The move ends Korfmacher’s 36-year career on the sidelines with the Purple and Gold, which included the past 13 years as the program’s winningest head coach with an overall mark of 56 wins and 72 losses.

“After a long stint as an assistant coach, Ron took over as the head coach at Taylor during an incredibly difficult time in our program’s history and has led this program with integrity for 13 years,” said Gould. “He leaves as our all-time wins leader and more importantly, he leaves a legacy of success in the lives of hundreds of young men that have come through this program.”

During his 13 seasons at the helm of Taylor football, Korfmacher led the Trojans to 56 victories, three NAIA All-American honors and 18 CoSIDA Academic All-American accolades.

Under Korfmacher, Taylor ranked top-five in the NAIA for team grade-point average in six of the last eight years, posting a team mark above 3.0 in each of those seasons.

A national search for the 14th football head coach in Taylor history is set to begin immediately.
