MOUNT VERNON, Ohio – Taylor collected its first two goals of the season on Saturday evening, but an unrelenting Mount Vernon attack proved to be the difference in a 3-2 loss.
The Cougars (2-1-0, 2-0-0 CL) peppered the Taylor net all evening, outshooting the Trojans 19-3, 13 of which came in the first half. Additionally, 10 shot attempts were on target, resulting in a trio of goals for the home team.
Gabe Bowron and Owen Hardy each achieved career milestones, collecting their first collegiate goals against the Cougars. Bowron’s tally came in the 26th minute, while Hardy found twine in the 84th minute during a late comeback bid for the Trojans.
Taylor netminder Joaquin Hansen recorded seven more saves against Mount Vernon, giving him a Crossroads League-leading 19 on the season.
The Trojans (0-3-0, 0-2-0 CL) will be back under the lights of Turner Stadium on Wednesday when they face off against Marian. Kickoff is set for 7:00 pm.
